Georgia Launches First Study on Microplastic Pollution under CARE SEA Project

first study on microplastic pollution in Georgia is being carried out within the framework of the CARE SEA project. This research initiative was launched following a study visit to the Microplastics Research Laboratory at Karadeniz Technical University in Trabzon, Turkey. The investigation is conducted under the scientific guidance of the project’s external expert, Professor Irine Baramidze, a chemist from the Maritime Academy, together with Marina Shainidze, a doctoral researcher at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and a young project staff member specializing in plastic pollution research.
